| Hello. I want to have two or more operating system on my hard drive, with Delta M motherboard. Now, is anyone is willing to explain how can I set up Windows and Linux on a single machine? How to set things at start to boot properly, with no conflicts, or data loss? Thanks. |

| This is no unusual combination, so here are few tips. Its better to have separated hard drives for Win/Lin combination, but you dont have to if you dont want to. Because Windows says drive sectors, and Linux says drive nodes. Install windows on C partition, as usual. When done with, than install Linux on other partition or hard drive. At the end of Linux installation, youll be prompted by a penguin to choose grub or Lilo. These are boot loaders that gives you an options to choose between one or another operating system. If you install Linux first, than Windows after, windows will run over Lilo or Grub loader which residents in a master boot record. So, youll need to configure Lilo or Grub once again, or Linux will be invisible. Note that you better make some free unformatted disk space before installing Linux. And let Linux it self give you a proposal what to do with it. Thats enough for you. For now. |
