Dell Inspiron 2650 screen too dark

I am having problems with screen on Dell Inspirion 2650 laptop. It is too dark for the last couple of days. I have thought that video card might be failing, but when I connected it to external monitor picture was perfect. So I am suspecting screen now. Can you tell me what the problem here is?

If you can see something on the screen, like desktop, dialogs and so on then I guess that backlight lamp is failing. This is quite a problem because backlight lamp is expensive and cannot be serviced, just replaced. Also it will fail completely after some time so you should take laptop to some technician and let it replace backlight lamp on your laptop screen.
