Can this be done safely somehow, without reformating the whole Hard Disc? When I say “delete”, I don’t mean destroy everything that’s on the partition, I just want the partition gone, but the data moved to the remaining partitions. DO I have to move these manually? The HD is an old Hitachi, the OS is Windows XP. Thanks in advance!

What software are you planning to use? The simple tools default in XP won’t cut it here. Check out partition-manager.com, and get yourself a good tool, like Paragon for exampke. I’m not sure, but I think it might allow you to just designate the destination for the data on the partition to be deleted, not have you move it about manually.
