| No, you do not have to install everything. You can choose to install only packages you need. Installation procedure is almost same as any other linux distro. Only that it has not some fancy GUI interface (except for AMD64). That said you will have first to check if your computer meets minimum system requirements and if your hardware is supported. Those two things you can easily check on Debian web site. Next, you have to decide how many partitions you will have, and then, create and format them. After that, installer will begin to load packages and in the process you will have to answer on some usual questions like time zone, root pass etc. If you got stacked anywhere, there is a lot of excellent documentation on Debian web site. |
