I am getting really frustrated with this problem. I have NEC DV5700a DVD-ROM. After some time computer started to show it as CD-ROM device. When I open NERO I can not burn DVD because it allows me to burn only CDs. Also, it can not read DVDs any more. Can you tell me how to fix this?

Believe it or not, the same thing happened to me with my NEC DVD burner and I know of several similar cases. Sometimes it helps to uninstall DVD from device manager and then install drivers for DVD. Sometimes it helps to update firmware. Unfortunately, none of these solutions worked for me and I had to reinstall Windows to gain back DVD functionality. Nobody knows for sure why this is happening.
