Hello. I have Sony DVD ROM. It was working well until it stopped recognizing media. I have inserted several Verbatim blank DVDs in order to burn some files but every time I was not able to do this. After trying to burn DVD Nero gave me error message that I have to insert media in DVD burner. Any suggestions?

It seems that modern DVDs are of terrible quality considering number of questions regarding problems with them. Have you tried some other media? I know that Verbatim is respected manufacturer but, even they, have some bad batches. Also, try to update firmware. That can help sometimes when DVD-ROM stops to recognize media.
