I have a question about DVD players and SVCD playback. So, I have a standalone DVD player and I’m wondering why it won’t play SVCD format. PC DVD player plays everything without any problem and I don’t understand. Isn’t technology used for those tow types of DVD players the same? What can I do in order to enable this DVD player to play this format?

You can’t do anything except playing it via PC DVD player. The technologies are not the same as far as I know. Some standalone DVD players can play almost all file formats and some can’t play only few. I don’t know what it has to do with, but you can read the specifications of your DVD player and see what it is capable of playing. But if you still want to play the movie or video that you have in SVCD format on that standalone player, you can just try to convert it to some other format your player can read. I’m sure that won’t be too difficult. Anyway, I think that those players that can play only few formats have a better quality laser no matter how odd that sounds.
