I have troubles with my DSL modem. It is not working with Ethernet cable. When I connect it with USB port it works fine. So, I guess it is not modem in question here but something else. I can leave it to work on USB but I need USB ports for other purposes and I would like to free them when I have a possibility. Can you tell me what to do here?
We can not dismiss possibility that DSL modem is faulty. Its port for cable connection is maybe broken or something like that. Besides, some DSL modems have a switch which indicates if they are using USB or LAN connection. Does your modem have that switch and do you change its position when you change connection type. Also, you should connect this DSL modem to some other computer just to dismiss possibility of faulty network card.
