This happens every 30-40 minutes or so. No apparent reason, just drops, sometimes immediately and sometimes after a couple of minutes of poor to no data traffic. The router is fairly new, and I think I originally had it configured properly, because it worked fine for some time, but now this… Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Did your ISP provide your with the router when you got an account with them? Comcast gives D-links, if I remember correctly… Anyway, if this is the case, just call them and have it replaced. This is most likely a standard procedure for them, because these crappy little router/modems that they provide usually don't last long.
