Ive read somewhere on the web that I need to convert file format so that program can read it. What this means and how can I convert files to other formats. Is there a program that is doing exactly this? Im interested in converting all kind of files, music, pictures and videos. Also can I convert my documents to some other formats?
Converting a file to another format means that you making a file readable to a program that you are intending to use it with. For example you can have a BMP picture that can not be viewed on your camera because your camera reads only JPG pictures. So you need to convert to JPG and this u can do in almost any image viewing program.
For converting CDs to Mp3 u can use grabbing programs so u can compress your song and put over 100 songs to one single CD. Video conversion is a tougher job and you need to do a lot of internet searching and learning before you can actually convert from DVD to DIVX etc. But you can find programs that simplify even all kind of hard work involved in the process. And for document conversion you can use Word and Excel built in options. You can simply access them by choosing a Save As option and then opening a drop down menu for file type. Hope that I explained a little about this topic, if you have more question feel free to ask. Also you should be more specific which conversion you intend to do so people here can give a better answer.
