Converting bmp format to gif?

Hi people. I have several pictures in .BMP format which I would like to put on my web site. However, these files are too large for web and I would like to convert them to .GIF before uploading them. Can you explain to me how to convert .BMP format to .GIF. If it is possible at all. Thank you in advance for your answer.

Hello there. Converting .BMP format to .GIF is easy. You can open .BMP file in any graphics program and then save it as .GIF. Even Microsoft Paint, that comes with Windows XP, can be used for this simple operation. However I believe that you have some more powerful program installed because you have made your own web site. If you do not have then I can recommend you GIMP, as a good and free alternative to Photoshop. It is excellent program and, unless you are a professional, you will not notice any difference feature wise.
