Converting .dat file to avi

Hello. I have several movies as .DAT files. I believe it is extension for VCD files. However I would like to convert them to AVI. AVI is supported by larger number of players and it can be significantly smaller. I would really appreciate if you explain to me how to convert .DAT file to .AVI. Thank you in advance for your patience and time.

Hello. There are several ways to convert .DAT files to .AVI. You can use RiverPast software. Launch RiverPast Video Cleaner and choose .DAT file you would like to convert. In the next step select output format and compression method. That is all regarding this. Beside RiverPast you can use vcd gear to convert .DAT to MPEG and then tmpgenc to convert MPEG to AVI.
