I used to have dial-up until recenty, but since I've switched to ADSL I haven't looked back, and don't expect to. There's just one thing, though: While my connection does work, and AFAICS at the guaranteed speed, it never shows up in my system tray for some reason. I'm used to seeing the icon there, and right-clicking it for Properties when necessary, but I don't know why it's not there with this connection. Anyone?

| That's not really a bug, it's just the way that cable & DSL connections work (in fact, any "LAN typed" connection does, I think). By default, there's no icon down and right. You can change this, and this is how: From the Control Panel, open up Network Connections ("show all connections" or something), find your DSL connection, and right-click it. Check the box saying "show icon in notification area when connected". |
