| I've been trying to set up a small local network at my place, using a single desktop computer (Intel, running Win XP Home) and a single Dell laptop (also on XP). The router is a Thompson Speedtouch gateway. As it turns out, the desktop can connect normally and access the internet, but while the laptop does connect to the network, it gets zero throughput to or from the internet. I'd appreciate any advice you might have for me |

| Can you ping the desktop and/ or the router from the laptop? Also, did you check the firewalls on all machines to make sure they don't block out access from the laptop? That means the laptop firewall, the router firewall (if any, don't know how that one works) and even the desktop firewall. |
