Confused about firewall

Hello! First of all, I want to clear one thing: I am beginner in IT world. I am a little bit confused about firewall. Many people told me that I need to install it on my system and that it will protect me. I have installed Zone Alarm Pro, but I cannot see anywhere tab for scanning my system. How to solve this problem?

Hello! I must tell you that Zone Alarm Pro is not that kind of program nor other firewalls are. You cannot scan system with firewall! Firewall is program which protects your computer from hacker attacks and blocked ports, but you should no that it is not almighty! You need to install antivirus and antispyware.
