I have plagued in Conexant SoftK56 Modem in my computer and properly installed it. I have windows XP Pro OS. My modem worked just fine. But, when I have installed service pack 2 on my system, problems with my modem started. I can not connect on speed 56Kb/s anymore; the best I can is 31Kb/s. Do you know what is wrong with this?

I think that XP service pack 2 changes your modems driver from generic softk 56 to softv92. Download softk 56 driver from the internet and install it. If this does not solve your problem, then, I think, you have a Trojan in your system. Then you should get some antitrojan software and scan your system. I hope that the problem is driver.
