I am an amateur photographer and I have never used my computer for this purpose. What do I need to get started? What software, hardware, manuals? My configuration is not the best in the world. Celeron on 1.5 Ghz, 256 RAM, 40 GB hard disk, and 17 CRT monitor. I dont have much money to spend on the equipment, because I already spent 900 bucks on my Nikon C44, so I am willing to pay no more then 300 bucks. What do you recommend me, memory, monitor or something else? And what about the printer, should I purchase Laserjet or Inkjet? Thanks for your advice.

| You got a great camera there man! I mean its the mean machine. You dont need something special for the purpose of photo editing. Although you didnt described your monitor I cant tell you whether is it good enough. For 300 bucks you can purchase RAM memory and LCD monitor, if you sell your old one. The main issue here is your software. Its more expensive then your hardware, believe it or not. For example, Photoshop CS costs 500 bucks. What about that. In the beginning you could use something cheaper, like PhotoStudio. I dont recommend you Laser printers, because they are extremely expensive. Of course, if you dont want to do a black-white photography. Color printers are between 300 and 1500 dollars. I recommend you an inkjet printer from HP, because they are BRAND. You cant go wrong with them. Good Luck! |
