I am a newbie in computer and Internet world. I recently bought me Pentium 4 machine and finished some courses for using it. However, I was astonished with the possibility of the Windows based operating system. Could somebody tell me something more about Windows history? Is there a command line interface in all Windows?

First Windows version for commercial use was Windows 3.0. It was released in 1991. It started a real revolution in computer using with its GUI. After him come Windows 95, Windows 96, and Windows 97 OSR2. Then Windows 98 came on scene. It was one of the most reliable Windows versions of all. Moreover, most selling one too. Next version brings another revolution with its possibilities. It was Windows XP. Today we have Windows Vista. Will it bring the new revolution as XP did once, we will find out for a year or two when it establishes itself on the market as a new standard. All Windows platforms are based on GUI. However, they left a command line interface for the DOS compatibility. You can find it in the All programs->Accessories->Command prompt.
