I got a new laptop last month as a birthday present from my parents. They also installed me an ADSL Internet connection. Then a good friend installed me Torrent software for movie downloading. At the beginning, everything worked fine. Since yesterday, I cannot clean the virus out of Avast! chest. What can I do?

I think that you probably have some sort of virus from Downloader or Trojan category. Its job is to aloud access to hard drive content on your computer to his owner. Avast cannot clean it. I had to reinstall my Windows because of torrent using. That was at the beginning. However, from my personal experience I found out what to use for protection. The protection that I have been using for last few months is combination of AVG and Seagate Personal firewall. Use AVG from the Safe mode to clean all viruses from your computer and then, install Seagate. I think you will be safe enough after that.
