| I'm putting together a new machine, and this time round I'm probably going to stick with integrated audio (as opposed to adding a sound card on top of that). My audio needs aren't so distinguished that I actually *need* an independent sound card, and I've found it to be much less of a hassle going with onboard audio. The choice I have now is between the two models listed above. Which would you guys suggest, and why? |

| Um, sorry but I'm afraid you've misunderstood some things here. While the AC97 is indeed an integrated sound system, the other one you've got listed there most definitely is not. Indeed, the "PCI" designation clearly shows it's a… well, a PCI card… as opposed to being mobo-integrated. For what it's worth, it still doesn't make much of a difference: Both are low-end audio solutions, and if you're not aiming for higher, you won't feel the difference regardless. |
