My three neighbors and I installed the wireless network and Internet between us. At the beginning, it worked decently. However, when we started using it heavily, it started to break every couple of minutes. We spend hours trying to find the best placement for our access point router but we failed to improve our network performance. What should we do? Somebody mentioned that we should reconsider changing wireless to wired.

Wireless networks worked fin only in offices when employees won't use anything heavier then Word, Excel and E-mails. If you try to start some accounting software or try to download even a little file from the Internet, network most certainly would break in pieces. I think that trying to improve performance of wireless network is just waste of time. I would personally recommend you to change wireless to wired. Wired networks are maybe not so elegant solutions as the wireless, but certainly are the more reliable one. I did that long time ago and I never regretted that for a moment.
