I have a problem with my new Canon scanner. I installed it myself and now images are distorted and I receive a strange error message cannot communicate with scanner. What does this mean and is it a big problem? I tried many times to fix it but it still wouldnt work. Do I have to call the authorized staff in order not to make things worse?

Maybe you installed the wrong drivers. Check them out again and read instructions manual carefully because if you dont install them properly the device may not function. You should also check whether you connected the device with your PC properly. If everything is as it should be, then try to unplug it and plug it again. If it persists with malfunctioning, dont try anything on your own because your warranty is valid only if you dont meddle with the device because you can break something. I once opened the PC case which was under warranty period in order to remove a CD-ROM and when they discovered that in the store they wouldnt accept that and my warranty period was immediately suspended.
