Hi there. I'm having trouble installing the drivers for my RealtekAC97. I wanted to update because I was hearing some serious distortion in the background, mostly in the lower ranges… so I went to the site, downloaded, and tried to install, but … First time I got "already have that version" message (don't remember exactly how it goes), so I cancelled, checked the numbers, and tried again – and then I started getting the "improper driver, can't install" error message (again, sort of like that). What's going on? Have I fucked things up somehow?

Possibly, though I wouldn't worry too much. First of all, what site would that be, the one you updated the drivers from? If your card is onboard, you need to go to the motherboard manufacturer's site, not just some general "free audio drivers" site. If you're sure they're genuine, you should've uninstalled the old drivers first, then installed the new ones – try that now. Finally, you might want to consider that your audio issue isn't driver related at all – maybe it has something to do with configuration settings, or even bad hardware.

hey when i try install the sound driver it has this error wot comes up it work befor but i didnt have sound only i had sound wen i click on demo not like itunes and stuff so i installed the ac driver from the website and it didnt work so i un installed both of them and now it wont install it agian :S its says Realtc audio HD failed to install and yeah if u have any suggestions please email me on
