I'm trying to set up a simple home network, just 2 PCs (one significantly older than the other) connected via cable, sharing a wireless internet connection. I've been doing this all by the book – well, if I can refer to Windows wizards and help files as "the book", but I can't get either computer to see the other one. I don't know what I'm doping wrong, honestly, or what to try next. Any help would be welcome…

Well, what have you tried already? Checked your cables, did ya? Well, check them again. Also, make sure the workgroups have been issued the same names on both machines. Other than that, I don't know what else to tell you on such scant info, except to check if the firewalls are interacting wrongly. See here for more advice: http://owsbbs.com/showthread.php?tt=583886
