| Hi! I have a problem with my network. I have Windows XP that I have recently installed. Also, I have cable internet. However, I cannot connect since I cannot acquire network address, and there is a small yellow mark on my network icon in a lower right part of the task bar. What can I do to connect to the internet? Thanks in advance. |

| The problem you have is not uncommon with inexperienced users. There are several reasons why you cannot acquire it. First you need to know whether you have static IP address, or a dynamic one. The IP is a unique number your computer has if it is a static one. Sometimes if your system cannot recognize it, you need to enter it manually. If you are not sure what kind of address you have, it is best that you contact you internet provider. In either case they will tell you which address is it. When you find that out, enter it manually by clicking to tcp/ip option after the ''properties'' tab of the network icon. Sometimes the problem is much simpler and needs modem powered off for ten seconds and than put back on. Hopefully, one two ways will resolve your problem. |
