Since I switched to Mozilla Firefox, a bunch of sites just won't open, no matter what. The connection is OK, because all other programs work normally. Even those sites that don’t load in Firefox still load in internet explorer 6. Is this a bug of some sort, or what? Is there a patch (I think my version is up to date).

Is there a common theme to the sites that won't load? Are they perhaps all graphic-heavy, with miscellaneous video previews? If so, they're probably using ActiveX controllers. It's a technology closely related and exploited by spyware to which IE users are particularly vulnerable. A design decision has been made for Firefox not to support ActiveX at all, because it's a huge security hole of its own.
