I think it couldn’t. I will consider AVE as an abbreviated antivirus engine, else I missed the subject. There are some problems related to the download of antivirus definitions, sometimes because of program module itself , problems at the side of server, or because of connection, or firewall settings if it is present on your computer. Maybe there is such a thing that AdAware program can block your antivirus from updating, but I never heard of such a thing. These programs have separate modules for update routine and shouldn’t interfere. The only probably thing I can think of considering the amount of information you gave is that maybe the bandwidth of connection is not wide enough to support simultaneous downloads. In that case you should do one download at a time, meaning uncheck automatically download of one program, and after the first one has finished , start the other one manually.
