I've got a new DVD R/W Drive (Lite On), but I can't seem to install it properly. If I use the default drivers that Windows XP offers, the drive will only burn at x4 speed (should be x16) and about half the media gets toasted. If I try to install the drivers I got with the hardware, the drive won't work at all, and I get the following message: "This firmware is not compatible with the selected drive." What do I do now?

If it says the drivers aren't compatible, than they'[re not compatible. You should look for another version on the internet. However, the fact that XP installs it OK but with reduced speed and performance quality suggests that the drivers might not be the issue here. It's possible that you've got a malfunctioning drive on your hands, and no drivers would change that. If that's the case, just have it replaced.
