Put simply, I got a new Dell laptop, and I can't connect it to my existing LAN. Put less simply, I don't know what's going on, because I can ping each of the Win XP desktops on the network, and I even have net access, but I can't share any network resources (files and printer). I made sure the workgroups all have the same name. I also checked and I do have admin rights with all machines. Still, I can't share with the laptop at all. Any suggestions?

Its strange that you can ping but not share
I'm sure you've tried this already, but check again if the windows firewall settings are correct, or better yet, try disabling it on all computers. Also, you may want to try installing the shared printer again for the whole network, this time with the laptop added, maybe that'll resolve whatever conflict you seem to be having.
