Hello, I am considering doing something useful for my PC, like getting some mean of protection for it, e.g. antivirus and have been advised to try with Norton Antivirus. Now, as I know should get something more for spyware, adware and similar threats the question is: Does Norton Antivirus detects and removes adware, too? It might be good solution if there are both functions in that one program.

Hi, the answer is… yes, and no. As stated at Symantec web site, current version of Norton Antivirus can detect, and in some cases delete Expanded Threats. What they call Expanded Threats is everything that is not included in their programs primary security purpose (Norton cleans viruses, warms and Trojans). So, adware, spyware is listed among Expanded Threats and can be “detected and in some cases deleted”. So, considering your needs, I recommend usage of some independent anti-spyware software, there are some very good free products on the market.
