Hello! I have Athlon XP1800+ processor and I am aware that this processor is somewhat outdated and I would like to upgrade it. I know I will have to change almost all parts in my computer (motherboard, video card, RAM) and I am ready to pay for that. Unfortunately, I am not very good in hardware, so, I would be very grateful for any advice you can give me.

If money is not an object, I would suggest you to buy X64 dual core AMD processor with AM 2 slot. Of course, you will need to buy everything you suggested above, but it is a worthy upgrade. 64 bits processors with am 2 slot are going to be around for awhile (considering manufacturers roadmap) and you will be able to upgrade it again if a need arise without buying all other parts again.
