Hey there! I have a problem with my DVD ROM. The problem is that it won’t read CDs. Now, it happens from time to time that it won’t read almost anything, and then plays some files but with trouble. What shall I do? Shall I take it to specialist or can I do something myself? I would appreciate any advice. Many thanks

Well, I think you should check your laser and clean your DVD ROM. There are those cleaning CDs which are not too expensive, and that could help you with your problem. There are also some other methods, that involve opening the device, and I even think you could find some instructions on the internet. You can always contact the specialist, of course, he would know the best. But there is a thing that you can also do, and that is checking it mode of functioning. Sometimes, when the system is damaged, the device starts functioning in PIO mode instead of functioning in DMA mode. So it slows device down and you should turn it back to DMA.
