I have bought new CD ROM. Placed it in computer case and connected it to power supply and motherboard via IDE cable. Upon Windows start I entered My Computer and found out that CD ROM is nor showing in my computer. Other CD ROM and hard drive are present. Do you know what the problem might be here?

If you have another device on the same IDE cable on which you connected new CD ROM then you probably did not configure jumpers correctly. Optical devices and hard drives have three jumper settings: Master, Cable select and Slave. On the same IDE cable two devices can not have the same setting except if they are in Cable select mode. Change jumper settings and CD ROM will show in my computer.
