| Is my cd drive faulty, or what? I have connected it regularly, but still experience some problems. I cant use all DVD-s, and during a playback, movie suddenly stops. Burned Cd-s also wont work, and same goes for few originals. Model is called HP8200i, if that means something to you. Its not old or anything simply makes problems. |

| I assuming that you dont use these mini discs, because I saw on few computers they can be tricky. They can literally damage your drive from the inside. Is your drive IDE interfaced, or youre using SATA? Check all your cables, especially power cable. On the other hand, your Hp may be restrictive to some DVD medias. Maybe it wont read unauthorized cd-s maybe it has some sort of protection. Then, is your drive clean enough? Be sure not to put filthy DVDs inside, and if you did, clean your laser. If you accidentally kicked your case, maybe the laser went off. It very fragile, so maybe you only need to adjust it. I got situation that during a shipment my DVD got physically damaged. Then there are security settings. Read about them in your brochure, and check troubleshooting settings. |
