There is something peculiar going on with my PC. Namely my CD-RW drive is faster than DVD-ROM drive. I dont understand how this can be, but when I looked at the speed of my CD-RW it was 52x and DVD-ROM is 16x. Is my DVD-ROM outdated or something? Im so disappointed because I should perhaps have bought some other device with a modern technology.

You must be joking, right? Is it possible that you dont know that these speeds refer to completely different standards of writing? CD-RW has maximum speed of 52x and DVD ROM reaches 16x but that doesnt mean its slower than your CD. Also, when you record something on your DVD-RW itll certainly last longer because DVD has 4.2 GB and CD has 700MB, so it naturally lasts longer to record something on DVD. So, you dont have to worry about your drives. If your DVD-RW writes slower than it should, you can check whether your system is adjusted to DMA mode. If its PIO mode, you should switch it to DMA. It can be checked from Nero software if you use that one for recording discs.
