Ok. Looking at other forums here at H-Desk and other forum websites, I'm seeing that people are losing there CD/DVD Drive from there laptop but they are getting it back by doing certain things. I might have an unusual situation here.
I have an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop, running Windows Vista OS. I have one of those wonderful "Matshita UJ850S" CD/DVD Drives! It has so conveniently disappeared.
I have seen and have been told to do a number of things to fix this problem such as going into the Regedit, saving the file as "savedkey", deleting of the Upper/Lower filters. I have also been told to go into my Device Manager and locate my CD/DVD drive and uninstall then reinstall but when I go into the Device Manager...the CD/DVD drive information isn't there either!
Can somebody please help me in fixing this problem! This is the second time the drive has disappeared but the first time I did the Regedit/savedkey/deleting the upper and lower filter solution and it worked. This time, It ain't that simple! PLEASE HELP!!!

Even though nobody replied to my question, I figured it out on my own. Just to give the next guy that has this question an idea of what to do; I'll explain.
You want to remove your CD/DVD drive. Turn your laptop off, flip it over, remove the appropriate screw that will release the drive pull it out and make sure that there are no screws loose on the drive (as on mine, there were!) Then re-install the drive reversing the above instructions. Hope this helps!
