I used Ghost to image my HDD planning to burn it to several DVDs (for transferal purposes more than backup, but that's beside the point). The media was Verbatim DVD-R. However, when I burned the first one using Nero Burning Rom, v. 6.6.0.12, it turned out the disc was corrupted. I wasn't alerted to that before I sent the DVD off, and by the time the word came back, I had burned (unsuccessfully) three more DVDs, all corrupt. I never used Nero before, but it was recommended to me as more reliable than the Norton tools themselves… which, in the end got the job done. What am I missing here? Was the speed to high (x , or did I misconfigure something?

Burning a DVD at x8 shouldn't be a problem for most drives, though BTW you didn't mention which one you used. Honestly, I have no idea if there's a configuration option that you could've set so that the DVDs burn badly and you don't get alerted. In fact, I'd suggest you double-check if the DVDs burned with Nero really don't work. It's possible the other drive won't read them even though they burned OK, so try them in the original drive (the one on your machine).
