I would like to build a dedicated game server to play games with my friends over internet in the private. I have some spare parts from my old computer (Radeon 9000 video card and 1 GB DDR Ram) which I would like to use in game server. I am worried, though, that this video card is not good enough for gaming server. Also I would like to hear from you what other parts I should by.

Hello. ATI Radeon 9000 is more then enough for game server. You wont be actually playing games on that server so video card is totally unimportant. Most important things are processor, RAM and power supply unit because it will work for long hours (24/7 maybe) and needs processor and RAM to easily process al requests. So, Athlon x64 3800+ will do the job. Take some good motherboard (Asus, Gigabyte, Abit?) and Cooler Master or Antec power supply unit. 1GB Ram will do the job and it can be easily upgraded afterwards if it proves as a bottleneck.
