| I have recently bought P4 configuration and I got this anti-static wrap. How to use it, I dont know how to connect it? Does anyone use this? Do I need to turn off my PC if I want to wipe out some stuff? I mean that is the purpose of antistatic wraps, right. I opened my computer case in order to provide more air flow, and I literally have access to all parts. Can I clean them during their work? Like if my hard drive is copying something is it smart to touch it? |

| Well, it would be good if you could show us some pictures of your anti-static wrap. I have one but I dont know about yours. You basically need to connect that metal part with a base. The base could be the ground, it basically means ground but in your case who knows. When your computer is grounded you can do all kinds of things but still be safe. If your PC is turned on you mustnt play with it. It is very dangerous remember. Antistatic wrap helps only when your system is off. I have been in computer business for years and I saw a guy get hit by a current. Dont mess with it, dont even think about it. Some people are more resistant but you shouldnt touch any of your components during their work. Techicians often attach it via wire but you dont have to do so. Just unplug your computer. Take care! |
