| Hi, all. I've been trying to put together this machine from scratch, using spare (but functional) hardware components. I think (well, thought) I finally had it all laid down properly, but powering up was a huge let-down. Simply put, it doesn’t start. The cooling fans spin for a moment, then they die down too. I checked all the cable connections and they seem fine. Any ideas as to what I might be missing? TIA. |

| A power supply issue would be my first guess, I'd have to say. What PSU are you using, and what components do you have stacked on? Does the former have enough wattage to handle the latter? Try taking off every non-essential component off the motherboard, leave just the RAM, the video card, and the keyboard connected, and see if it starts up that way. If it does, then that's probably it, your PSU can't make enough juice for all the components. |
