I had to reinstall Windows XP because of Dropper Trojan that made a real mess of my system. I have formatted partitions and restored previous settings with using Power Quest Drive Image. Now I receive following error when I boot up:” Err 8: Fake Floppy driver not found. Press any key to boot to active partition. “. Any solution?

This boot-up problem after formatting partitions and reinstalling Windows XP are caused by Drive Image. It creates virtual floppy drive and writes information about it in master boot record in order to boot system from that virtual drive and make/restore image. After it finishes process it should put MBR in previous state but it doesn’t from some unknown reason. To fix this problem enter recovery console and use FIXMBR command or boot from floppy and run FDISK /MBR.
