I've recently added this Lite-On R/W drive to my sytem, and at first it seemed t work OK, both reading and writing normally. However, I've found that it sometimes causes a system crash while ripping a DVD: I get hit with a BSoD somewhere half way through the process. Could this be a heat issue? I should note that my other (slower) drive, a Hitachi, has no such problems.

What message does the Blue Screen show? In any case, my money would be on the lack of power, so try burning with the Lite-On device but at a lower speed, just to see if this is the cause. If it is, just go out and get a stronger PSU.
