I have recently been told by my friend that he got attacked by a virus called BlackWorm. I would like to know something more about it and how dangerous it really is. I am often on the internet and I would like to protect myself as much as possible. Thanks for suggestions.

Your friend had really bad luck. Blackworm is not too spread, but it can be very damaging. It spreads by e-mail as the victim opens infected attachments. Also, it can spread through unprotected network shares.
When it spreads, it will corrupt data on your computer. Also it will delete various files that belong to antivirus programs in the case if they are installed in the same directories worm's code specifies. Its damage is very high and it is probably best if your friend formats its hard disk and thus gets read of the virus for sure.
