A friend left me his Gateway 7422GX but something’s wrong with it and I need to get into it’s BIOS but it’s password protected. The problem is that I don’t know the password. I suppose that the only way to fix this would be resetting the BIOS but I don’t know how this is done. Is this safe or could it do some damage to the laptop? Thanks in advance!

Resetting BIOS is quite easy and it won’t do any damage. You just have to remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes and then when you put it back, the BIOS will be reset. I still think it would be better if you would just call your friend and ask him/her for password.
