Bios not working and Comp not registering hard drive

Iâ€™m trying to put my first PC together but Iâ€™m having some trouble with it even though Iâ€™ve read a few online manuals on this. Anyway, when I connect all the components (Intel P4 Northwood 3.0 Ghz Processor, 1 Gb of RAM, Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 256Mb Graphics Card, DX-DVDR100 DVD Rom and 100 GB Hitachi 7200 S-ATA Hard Drive) to the mobo (ASUS P4P800 E-Deluxe) and turn it on, first I get some â€˜no BIOS installedâ€™ message and then I somehow get into BIOS only to see it doesnâ€™t recognize the hard drive. Any ideas?

Itâ€™s hard to tell whatâ€™s going wrong with just this brief description you gave us. Is this a second hand mobo? Maybe you should try resetting it by taking the CMOS battery out. And after that you should check the jumpers on the hard drive and set them to â€˜masterâ€™ position and set DVD as the â€˜slaveâ€™ and then try booting from DVD. If this doesnâ€™t help, send more info on what exactly and in which order youâ€™ve done.
