I can see that there is many media formats. In fact, I can not even remember how many formats I have seen and I wonder why it is like that. People should decide which media format is the best and start using it. What is your opinion about this? Which media format is the best?

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as best media format. Different media formats are made to meet different needs. For example, DiVX is made with compression in mind and to retain reasonable level of quality. The same thing is with mp3. On the other hand format like FLAC (lossless media format for music) is made to retain higher level of quality and that has sacrificed compression.
