I want to capture and edit some music and movies from TV to my computer. I am not some kind of expert for this area, but I could handle it. I want to know which hardware I would need. For software I know what I need. Also, I would like to hear your opinion about best hardware for this purpose.

I preferred ATI. You need capture card and your hardware must be very good. I have ATI All-In-Wonder 9700 Pro and I can tell you that it is very well. With this product you getting graphic card, capture card and TV tuner. It is not cheap, you can buy some other which will be cheaper, but it worth every penny!
