I am a new user of computers. My parents both me Toshiba laptop last month. I finished a couple of courses about using it and some of them were for experienced users. I got interested in that matter and now I want to get some more information. To be precise, I want to replace my notebook for desktop because I have a problem with faulty notebook battery. I can't boot while notebook is charging battery. Is it complicated to replace the CPU by yourself?

If you have some basic knowledge in electronics and know how to work with a screwdriver, that should not be the problem. First, open the case and remove the cooler over the processor. Now you could release the processor by pulling the handle from the side of the socket. When you release it, take it out of the slot, replace the other motherboard and return the CPU on its place. Be careful to put the processor in the right direction or otherwise you will damage it. When you place the processor in the socket and secure it, put the thermal paste over it and then put the cooler back on its place. Because, all new motherboards are jumperless you do not need to do anything more. Pay attention that if you want to change your Toshiba notebook just because of battery problem, you can easily replace the faulty battery. Maybe your battery is OK and that is its normal behavior.
