Here's my situation, in brief. I have machines with different operative systems networked, and it works OK, mostly. However, I can't seem to access a newly added Mac from my PC. The snag is at the authentication prompt, it looks like it doesn't accept my usernames/passwords, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The systems are Mac OS and Win XP. Any thoughts?

How exactly are you trying to access it, and what user/passwords have you tried? Here's a step by step guide I found once on the macrumors forums: Form the PC, go Start -> Run. Type in \\{Mac's IP number}\{OS X account name}. When prompted for authentication, you enter the OS X account username and password, not any of the user/passwords you've got on the PC or on the LAN. Does that work?
