Is this, like, normal? I don't have much experience with curning DVD copies, and this Asus is a completely new drive, so I'm wondering if, you know, there's something I'm missing? Should it be faster? Is there some other utility instead of Nero and Rip It 4 Me that I should be using? TIA

You say "burning" but judging from the rest of the text I take it you mean ripping? There's a difference, you know. If you're trying to rip a full DVD stretch into an avi/mpeg so you can burn it all to a single disc, than I'd say 5 hours is just about right. It sometimes takes me more than that on a 2.6 Ghz CPU.
